Why we tell people to book holiday lights in October

Why we tell people to book holiday lights in October

Short answer: book in October because the installs themselves happen in a short window, and every home wants to be lit by the same few weekends. An early booking gets you your preferred date, a firm price before the rush and time to decide what you want lit. Holiday and event lighting runs $10 to $15 per linear foot installed on our price list, and a returning-client re-install runs $350 to $1,500. We would rather you plan this in a calm month than call us in a panic in late November.

What the holiday season looks like from our side

Most families want their house lit around Thanksgiving, and they all want it before the same handful of weekends. Roofline work is outdoor, weather-dependent and done one house at a time by a crew, so there are only so many homes a crew can finish before the holidays. That is simple math, not a sales line. Calling early means you are on the schedule before it gets tight.

October is also when we have time to do the part that matters: walking your property, measuring the roofline and talking through what you actually want. That is how we give a firm number before any work begins, and it is why the estimate is free.

What booking early gets you

  1. Your date, not the leftover date. You pick when the lights go up, and we plan around it.
  2. A real conversation about the design. Rooflines, porch columns, trees, walkways. You decide what is worth lighting and what is not.
  3. A price you understand. We measure the feet and multiply by the per-foot rate. You see how the number was built.
  4. Time to ask about extras. Wrapping trees and shrubs, timers and wreaths are priced on top, so it helps to know early what you want.

If you already have lights in storage

Returning clients are the easiest case. We reinstall your stored lighting each season, which is why the re-install price of $350 to $1,500 is lower than a first-year install. If you are not sure what we have of yours, a quick call in October sorts it out long before the install window.

If you are new to us

You do not need to have your design figured out. Tell us the house, the rooflines you care about and the look you are after. We will walk the property, give you a firm number and explain what is included: clean hanging with no damage to gutters or shingles, timers and takedown after the season.

A simple October checklist

  • Walk the outside of the house at dusk and note which rooflines and trees you want lit.
  • Check where your outdoor outlets are. Lights need a power source, and it helps to know where it is.
  • Decide whether you want a timer so you never have to flip a switch.
  • Call for the free estimate and pick your install date.

What if you wait

You are not locked out. We take late calls and do what we can. But the later you call, the fewer dates you have to choose from, and the more likely you are to settle for a day that is not the one you wanted. That is the only reason we push October.

When to call us

Call now if you want lights up for the holidays and you want a say in the date. We serve North Atlanta and the Gwinnett towns to the northeast, including Lawrenceville, Duluth, Suwanee and Buford. See our holiday lighting page and pricing for more.

Why this is not a pressure tactic

We do not push anyone into a contract. We give a free estimate, the number is firm and there is no upsell pressure. The reason we bring up October is practical. A homeowner who calls early gets more choices and more of our time. A homeowner who calls late gets fewer. If you would rather wait and see, that is your call, and we will still do our best to fit you in.
