Short answer: landscape lighting on our price list starts at $195 per fixture, installed. The total for your home is that per-fixture price multiplied by how many lights the design needs, plus the transformer, wire and trenching. A single front-yard feature is a small job. A whole property with paths, trees, a patio and the back of the house is a much bigger one. We do not quote a one-size-fits-all project total here, because no two yards are alike. We would rather show you what drives the number so you can judge any quote, ours included.
How to build a rough budget
- Count the spots you want lit. The entry, the paths, the best trees, the patio, the corners of the house.
- Multiply by the starting price. Example: 10 fixtures × $195 = $1,950 at the starting price.
- Expect the real number to move. Fixture type, transformer size, wire length and soil all change it, which is why we walk the property before giving a firm number.
The per-fixture price is the one fixed point on our price list. Everything else on a lighting job depends on your property, and we explain it in words below instead of guessing at a total.
What you are actually paying for
- Fixtures. This is where quality shows. Brass costs more up front than aluminum, but it holds up in Georgia humidity and summer heat. We offer lifetime-brass fixture options for that reason.
- The transformer. It steps house power down to safe low voltage. It should be sized for the lights you have now, with room to add more later.
- Wire and trenching. Low-voltage wire runs shallow and gets buried. When the property also has an irrigation system, we can plan the runs so the yard is not dug up twice.
- Design. We lay out the lighting at dusk, on your property, so you see where the light falls before you commit. That time is part of the price, and it is why our fixtures land where they should.
Why quotes vary so much from one company to the next
- Fixture count. A front facade with a few uplights is a very different job from paths, trees, a patio and the back elevation.
- Fixture quality. A cheap quote often means cheap fixtures. Replacing them in a few years makes it the expensive option.
- LED versus older bulbs. Low-voltage LED costs a little more at install and much less to run.
- Whether design is included. Some quotes are fixtures placed wherever the installer guesses. Ask to see the lights on before you sign.
Questions to ask any lighting company
- How many fixtures, and what are they made of?
- What size is the transformer, and how much room is left to add lights?
- Can I see a demo at night before I commit?
- Who do I call when a fixture or the transformer fails?
When to call us
Call if you have a house with a front yard that disappears at night, steps or paths you would rather not trip on, or an older system with lights that have gone dim. We offer a free on-site estimate, and a firm number comes before any work begins. We serve North Atlanta, including Brookhaven, Buckhead, Dunwoody, Sandy Springs and the Gwinnett towns to the northeast. See landscape lighting design and our pricing page.
A few things that move the price up or down
Slope and soil matter. A steep, rocky or root-filled bed takes longer to trench than flat lawn, and Georgia red clay is slow to dig when it is hard and dry. A long run from the house to a back patio needs more wire than a short front walk. And a house with big trees to light from below needs more fixtures than a bare facade. None of this is a surprise on our end. We see it when we walk the property, and it is why we give you a firm number before any work begins, with no hidden fees.
What to do before the estimate visit
A little homework makes the estimate faster and the number more accurate. Walk the front yard at dusk and note where it feels dark. Look for steps, grade changes and path edges you would rather see. Check where your outdoor outlets are, and note any irrigation heads and valve boxes so the wire is planned around them. Take a few photos of the house from the street. None of this is required, but it lets us spend the visit on design instead of basics.
