Spring Activation: Preparing Your Irrigation System for Peak Georgia Heat

Spring Activation: Preparing Your Irrigation System for Peak Georgia Heat

As the last Georgia frost recedes, it’s tempting to just twist the main valve open and walk away. Don’t. A rushed startup is the single most common cause of a summer full of dry spots, wasted water, and surprise repair bills.

Charge the system slowly

Opening the main line too fast sends a pressure spike through pipes that have sat empty all winter. We open it gradually, letting air bleed out zone by zone, so nothing cracks or blows a fitting.

Walk every zone

We run each zone in turn and physically watch every head:

  • Heads that don’t pop up or retract
  • Misaligned arcs spraying the driveway instead of the lawn
  • Clogged nozzles and mismatched precipitation rates
  • Leaks at the valve box or along the lateral lines

Recalibrate for the season

Winter schedules waste water in spring and starve turf in July. We set a smart, weather-based schedule tuned to your grass type and sun exposure — then leave you with a simple summary of what runs when.

Book your spring startup before the first 90° week and you’ll sail through summer with a lawn that actually thrives.
